More Didsbury than Del-Rey from The Vixens this December

October 16, 2024

You know you need some time away from your Switch or your X Box...but anything that isn't intrinsicly linked to thumb action - just seems so mundane.

Twice this week you've ended up in Wythenshawe when you meant to get off the tram in Firswood - and on each occasion it was because your Fruit Ninja Classic ability transported you to a parallel universe.

And it's only going to get better/worse (delete as appropriate). As Black Friday and Christmas head our way - that itching you've got to secure Harry Potter Quidditch Champions Deluxe Edition will surely develop into a full-blown rash - that only your GP could tackle.

But...the GOOD NEWS is that our favourite group of Mancunian Cabaret Queens will soon be on hand to (metaphorically) massage the fevered brow of any North West-based Achievement Hunter who needs to step away from that extended Closed Beta situation, which is in danger of getting out of control...

MC Jas Nisic at Ember and the Travixens
Power Up: MC Jas Nisic

Ember Travixen will be bringing her hugely popular ‘Ember & the Vixens’ cabaret to the gorgeous CULTPLEX cinema room at GRUB Mcr this December, to celebrate the start of Festive Season, with a unique Video Game themed show.

The team behind Manchester’s 5*-sell-out-cabaret understand the gift of giving and their Gamer Special Show is an early Christmas present this year…perfect for gamers, geeks and pop culture fanatics. The show will feature characters from extremely popular games such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Pokemon, League of Legends, Crash Bandicoot and more - in the kind of real-life, 4K resolution - that your Mum told you would make you blind.

On Friday 6 December,at 8PM (doors open at 7:30PM), put your VR Headset on charge - and prepare to be mesmerised by the Vixens in the beautiful CULTPLEX cabaret den. Featuring singers, burlesque showgirls, spoken word performers and circus entertainers, this show is going to entertain, empower and dazzle you in the geekiest way possible - leaving you reconsidering your claim that Mass Effect 2 is the best thing since Warburton's took a knife to a loaf.

The Vixens wow on International Women's Day
The Vixens wow on International Women's Day

Selina Helliwell’s cabarets have had a string of sell-out shows including an International Women’s Day special, ‘Valentine’s Vixens’ events, ‘exquisite entertainment’ takeovers of the Manchester Art Gallery, and two Halloween themed events. But this one is expected to be bigger and better than ever…with a multitude of game characters, pop culture references and all the fantastical escapism you could wish for. As usual for Helliwell’s cabarets, Selina’s own burlesque alter-ego Ember Travixen will be taking to the stage, and the much-loved MC Jas Nisic will be singing and hosting, introducing a variety of amazing performers from the burlesque, music and circus worlds.

Expect mesmerising music, sensual burlesque, hypnotising circus and powerful poetry - as well as moments of laugh-out-loud comedy too. Ember Travixen is supplying the Cheat Code you need to join her for a fun-filled evening of liberation, empowerment and first-class entertainment, all fused together in a joystick of Video Game madness.

Join the Vixens at ‘Ember & the Vixens: Let the (Video) Games Begin’ on Friday 6 December 2024.
