Tucked away in the Yorkshire Dales, the MagNorth Bothee is our creative hideaway—a space where artists, makers, and anyone who fancies getting stuck in can come together for hands-on workshops. From painting to basket weaving, we’re all about building creative skills, trying new things, and maybe even discovering a hidden talent or two.
The Bothee isn’t about staring at art from a distance - it’s about making, doing, and learning from some of the most interesting creatives we know. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or someone who hasn’t picked up a paintbrush since primary school, there’s a place for you here.
Expect good company, great scenery, and a chance to create something with your own hands. No pretentiousness, no pressure - just making, learning, and probably having a laugh along the way.
Ever wanted to work with glass but didn’t know where to start? In this hands-on session, you’ll learn the basics of stained glass design, from cutting and shaping to soldering your own small panel. Expect sparks (the good kind), plenty of colour, and the satisfaction of creating something that catches the light just right. No experience needed—just steady hands and a bit of patience!
Swap the studio for the stunning Yorkshire landscape in this relaxed outdoor drawing session. Whether you're a seasoned sketcher or just picking up a pencil, we'll help you capture the textures, shapes, and moods of the Dales. Expect a mix of quick-fire exercises and slower, detailed studies—plus plenty of fresh air and creative chat.
Basket weaving: old-school craft, surprisingly addictive. In this session, you’ll learn the basics of traditional weaving techniques while creating your own small basket to take home. No experience needed—just a willingness to get hands-on. Tea, coffee, and possibly some questionable weaving puns provided.
