While our comrade editor is away from his post - he's missed the invitation of a lifetime - because today Eliza has invited me...yes - me - to head west this weekend for a unique date with a big fish. And some chips. And obviously some mushy peas, as in its quest to regain position as a world leader, our great island nation will quite rightly be able to boast on Saturday that we have the world’s first ‘Fish & Chip Hotel’.
Gala Bingo is calling all British seaside goers to visit the world’s first ‘Fish & Chip Hotel’, popping up in our very own Blackpool on the 8th and 9th July for one weekend only. The Jolly Good Fish & Chip Hotel prototype will be welcoming visitors to enjoy a portion of fish, chips and peas alongside games of bingo, all for free. Without cost. At no expense. On the house.
In true Gala Bingo style, The Jolly Good Fish and Chip Hotel pop-up will be ‘five in a row’ themed, and will be opening its doors to surprise visitors with a little bit of joy to brighten their beach day.
Gala Bingo must be applauded for bringing the ultimate quintessentially British experience to the iconic seaside destination on the Lancashire coast, combining two of the nation’s favourite things: bingo, and fish and chips. From midday until 8pm on both Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July, visitors to the hotel will be invited to indulge in a free portion of the British staple, inspired by the iconic bingo call 33, fish, chips and peas. Guests will be able to enjoy their fish and chips at the hotel’s dining room and join in on games of bingo held throughout the day, or take them away to enjoy in the sun at the Blackpool Pier or Pleasure Beach nearby.
Unfortunately this monumental event coincides with most UK Independent Prep Schools breaking for summer (see you in Michaelmas Term Henry) - and so it is likely that queuing for the hotel may stretch back onto the M6. Parents and carers of the top 5.8% are advised to bring their own homemade ketchup - as only the proletariat Heinz variant will be available across the weekend. The Jolly Good Fish & Chip Hotel room will also be open for visitors to have a snoop around. The Gala Bingo concierge will be there to meet and greet guests and welcome them into the ‘five in a row’ themed suite, where they can test out the hotel bed, and have a cheeky selfie with friends, and experience what it would be like to spend a night in the world’s first Fish & Chip Hotel room. There has never been a more comfortable way to enjoy your fish & chips.
