Spring’s kicking off in Manchester, and there’s a hell of a racket coming to Contact Theatre. On Wednesday, 9th April, Welsh comedian Morgan Rees is headlining brew. haha Queer as Fck Comedy Night* - a proper night of queer laughs, big energy, and stories that’ll have you snorting into your pint.

Morgan’s been everywhere lately - co-writing for Uncle Roger, scribbling jokes for Mock The Week and The Great American Joke-Off, and selling out his first UK tour last year. Now he’s landing in Manchester with his sharp one-liners and a stage presence that’s all over the shop. “It’s unashamedly queer, a bit rude, fast, and fun,” he says. “I’ll be piling in the gags and bouncing around like a madman.” Expect tales of dodgy one-night stands, growing up queer in a Welsh pit town, coming out late, and fumbling into his first relationship in his 30s. “It’s all fair game,” he says.

He’s not alone on the bill. Trans comic Ben Hodge is MC, keeping things cracking along, with lesbian stand-up Louise Young-fresh from gigs with Alan Carr and Tom Allen-in tow. Gay author Martin Dixon’s bringing his deadpan bite, and musical comic Jenny Hart, the self-styled ‘bad tranny’, will belt out some wicked tunes. It’s a proper mix - raw, loud, and proud.

Manchester’s queer crowd’s already got form with Morgan. “Last time, we had to slap on extra dates-the welcome was unreal,” he says. “This city’s got a buzz about it, and I can’t wait to get back.” Contact’s stage is the perfect spot for it - a hub that’s seen its share of wild nights.

It’s not just about the laughs, either. Brew’s dishing up Detroit-style pizzas-thick, cheesy, and homemade-while the bar’s got draft beers, ciders, and a cracking brew for the non-boozers.

Doors open at 6:30pm, show runs 7:30 to 10:00pm, and tickets start at £17. Grab them —they won’t hang around.
