Families are being invited to fly into County Durham this summer for a magical theatre production.

The stage is being set for Gala Durham’s Peter Pan and Wendy, featuring a modern twist on J.M Barrie’s classic tale.

Featuring a North East based cast, the production opens at the Durham County Council venue this week. It brings together all the favourite characters from the original story, as Wendy finds herself lost in an enchanted forest and meets a magical boy called Peter and a beautiful fairy called Tinker Bell

Together, a real adventure begins, with pirates and Captain Hook chasing after them, before Wendy soon realises that what’s really important might be waiting back at home.

Peter Pan and Wendy is running until Saturday 27 July, with a British Sign Language interpreted and captioned performance also available on Friday 26 July at 6.30pm

Sarah Glynn, Durham County Council’s strategic manager for culture, said: “We are so excited to share the magic of Peter Pan and Wendy via our latest production. It truly is a unique and magical re-telling of a much-loved classic tale that is full of fun and adventure."
